Ira Kalina is a Vice President of Innovative Health Strategies LLC (“IHS”). In his role with IHS, Mr. Kalina assists healthcare providers in the vendor selection process, preparing total cost of ownership analyses, and analyzing ambulatory EMR business models.

Mr. Kalina is also a Partner in the Chicago office of Drinker Biddle & Reath.  He is a member of the Health Information Technology practice and the Intellectual Property department.  His practice is concentrated in information technology, research and development, intellectual property licensing and advertising.  Mr. Kalina counsels clients from a diverse array of industries, including health care, hospitality, gaming, financial services, entertainment, education and traditional manufacturing.

As a member of the Health Information Technology practice, Mr. Kalina counsels hospitals, educational medical centers, practice groups, industry associations and vendors with respect to all aspects of information technology and intellectual property.  Whether evaluating an integrated clinical solution, ambulatory EMR systems, focused financial or materials management modules, or broad-based outsourcing arrangements, members of the HIT practice assist clients from vendor selection and pricing negotiations through implementation and post-implementation vendor management.  Mr. Kalina also counsels clients with respect to acquisition of equipment and infrastructure, including PACS, radiology, nuclear medicine, medical management and telecommunications systems.

Mr. Kalina received his Bachelor’s degree in history and economics from the University of Michigan.  He is also a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School.
